An Early Xmas Present from Alltel
Networking is important for more than just your phones! Businesses of all sizes can benefit from networking, but it is especially important for small businesses looking to build opportunities outside their normal circles. And while there’s a lot you can do through social media, nothing beats meeting other people face-to-face.
Alltel will be attending the VECCI Christmas Lunch for Women in Business (in Melbourne) this year, where Victoria’s community of amazing business women celebrate the year’s achievements in great company. This is a must-do on every business woman’s calendar, and we’d love for you to join us!
Fair Calls for All at the ACCAN National Conference
Alltel spoke at the ACCAN National Conference in Sydney earlier this month as part of the Fair Calls for All panel. We accepted the invitation to participate on this panel so that we could give our customers a voice, and explain the impact on businesses (especially small businesses) by the big three telcos (Telstra, Optus, Vodafone) charging their mobile customers unfair charges to use 1800 and 1300 numbers.
There were a number of great speakers there and some interesting questions asked and issues raised. Here’s a summary of what went on.
Gold and Platinum Numbers: The Affordable Smartnumber Alternative
Some businesses have the coolest 1300 numbers and 1800 numbers! There are numbers that spell words like 1300 ALLTEL (1300 255 835) and also numbers with great repeating patterns like 1300 50 10 50.
These numbers are ideal for marketing your businesses because they’re easy to say, easy to remember and easy to dial. And the good news is that it’s easy to get one for your own business.
One option is to visit the smartnumbers® web site and search the phonewords and patterned numbers they have available. If you see one you like, you can bid on it in an auction and hopefully pick it up for around $250. (Find out more about the smartnumber auction process.)
However, a more affordable option is to see what numbers are available from 1300 number and 1800 number carriers. Many will often offer patterned numbers for a fraction of the price that you’ll pay in a smartnumbers auction!
Making 1300 Numbers and 1800 Numbers Easier to Remember
After deciding that you want to get a 1300 number or 1800 number for your business, the next thing you need to do is to choose the actual number.
One of the key things you should look for is a number that is easy to remember. The dream number for most businesses is one that spells their business name or describes the type of work they do, e.g. 1300 ALLTEL or 1800 TENNIS.
Unfortunately, your dream number is not always available (someone might have beat you to it!), so your next best option is to get a number with a good numeric pattern that is easy to remember.
Alltel to Speak at the ACCAN National Conference
Alltel Pty Ltd (www.alltel.com.au), a leading provider of telecommunications solutions to Australian businesses, will be speaking at the ACCAN National Conference in Sydney this week.
“Alltel is an active supporter of ACCAN’s Fair Calls for All campaign,” said Jacqui Johnson, Alltel’s Marketing Manager. “We’d like to see calls made to 1800, 1300 and 13 numbers charged at the same rate from both mobiles and landlines.”
Fair Calls for All is ACCAN’s public campaign to fight for fair rates for mobile calls to 1800, 1300 and 13 numbers.
